St. Mariam Baouardy (1846-1878)

ST. MARIAM BAOUARDY - MARY OF JESUS CRUCIFIED (1846-1878) “The Little Arab”

St. Mariam BaourdY was born January 5, 1846 at Abellin between Haifa and Nazareth as the thirteenth child of the couple and Giries Banardy and Mirijam Schahyn. She was not yet three when bother her parents dies. After their death she was adopted by an uncle and went to live in Egypt. At the age of thirteen years she was betrothed to his wife's brother. The night before the wedding day, she heard the voice of Jesus come from the depths of her heart that whispered these words clearly: "All things pass. If you give me your heart, I will always be with you." After receiving this message, she wished to remain forever the mystical bride of the Redeemer and did not want to get married.

Since then she was treated like a slave, and suffered all kinds of abuse. She wrote of her sufferings to her brother and had the male servant of the house deliver the letters, but when the Muslim servant heard of her situation, he tried to win her over as a bride by attempting to convert her to Islam. She refused and so the servant tried to kill her by slashing her throat, she lay unconscious and was believed dead. She was thrown into an alley in Alexandria. Mirijam was about to die when a beautiful lady appeared wrapped in a blue dress that woke up, bringing her to life in a miraculous way. When she opened his eyes and saw the Holy Virgin stitch her wounds and she heard these words: "Be happy even if you suffer and suffer for God, He sends you only what you need, accept always good." After having warned about the temptations of the devil and encouraged to engage in love of neighbour, she prophesied that she would live in a convent in France and would die in the habit of Caramel in Bethlehem. Then she disappeared.

All that the Holy Virgin had predicted happened: St. Mariam entered the Carmelite Order in 1875 and then founded the Caramel of Bethlehem, where he died August 26, 1878, after living a life full of mystical graces, penance, atonement and suffering. She was also a stigmatist and made prophecies, the few we have tell of the coming tribulations and the Three Days of Darkness.

St. Mariam Baouardy was beatified by Pope John Paul II on 13 November 1983 and was canonised on 17 May 2015 by Pope Francis. She became the second Greek Catholic to be canonised a saint of the Catholic Church, the first being Josaphat Kuntsevych in 1867.

FRANCE - In the centre of Christ's Heart

Vision on May 26, 1873

"I saw France as a field watered by the rain, lit and warmed by the sun.  But the earth was covered with weeds, among which, however, there were some good ones.  I said to Jesus, "Lord, why are You leaving these weeds? "

"I leave them," replied the Divine Master, "because the good are still too weak.  They have their roots tied to the bad ones.  If I tear out the bad ones, the good ones will be damaged and they will wither.  When the good will be stronger, I will pull out all that is bad. (...) Now it's (France's) peace is built on the sand.   Later, I will establish peace built on the firm rock and nothing will shake it.   France is the center of My heart. "

(NOTE: 'the firm rock' - this seems to indicate that once France turns away from the sand of the world and returns to 'the rock', that is Christ, His Church, and her ancient holy mission to defend the Church, the Age of Peace will be established and France will never loose this peace.)

Visions during 1873  - St. Mariam sees a terrible WAR that will take place sometime in the future

St. Mariam then in May of 1873 asks when will the horrible war that is her vision will end.

After a period of silence, she passed on the terrible answer:

"Ah, it will be long, because everyone has to go, big and small: we are all corrupt!"  (i.e. the war will be long as everyone will have to be punished.)

In this ecstasy she saw two immense armies fighting one another.  She saw two cisterns, one already filled with blood, the other still empty, but so great that the blood of the three quarters of the men could not seem to fill it, and the Voice said to her:
"You see, it is necessary that this cistern be filled to calm the justice of God ... "

Vision of  February 16, 1874 - FRANCE WILL BE THE QUEEN OF ALL KINGDOMS, but only after the BLOODY WAR and the THREE DAYS OF DARKNESS

"Yesterday, I felt before God, and I prayed for our Mother the Holy Church and for France. "

Mariam hears a Voice (Our Lord): "Yes, I will delight in the bosom of France, she will still be the queen of all kingdoms.  But before then, France must be made absolutely nothing so that I am at the head of armies, so that all nations say between them, from generation to generation:

"Really, it is the Most High who is at the head of France."

All nations will cry out with one mouth, one voice, the same tone, even the ungodly."

(NOTE: Our Lord is saying France must be reduced to a state of abjection so that when the Lord steps in, the whole world will recognise that it is indeed the Lord that has miraculously intervened.)

St. Mariam: "Little lambs, do not be afraid of God.  He will strike the earth, there will be earthquakes; fear nothing ; resort to God alone, remain in him, trust in Him and fear nothing; His mercy is immense.  He will want to spread it (His Mercy) over men, but justice stops mercy ... "  (I.e. Jesus will not show mercy until the earth is struck with justice, but He will protect those who trust in Him.)

Vision of August 14, 1874:  More on the War

"It will be a terrible massacre. We will walk in blood up to the knees. I think that in this great war that will come, they will take all the priests to fight ...  I do not know whether it is in this way that the priests will perish, for it must remain very soon after the Event, and it seems to me that they will be placed before them, at the height of danger. "

(NOTE: other mystics have foretold the clergy will be persecuted in France - here St. Mariam seems to see the clergy will be pressed into military service and forced to take up arms, she is not sure if this is how many of them will perish, i.e. death in warfare.)

::::::::::::::::::::

In 1878 St. Mariam told a certain Father Prosper Chirou about the rise of an EVIL GOVERNMENT IN FRANCE - the Church will be PERSECUTED - the GERMANS will invade again:

"There will be a bad government in France.  The religious will be hunted.   It will take leagues to confess.  (i.e. will will have to travel leagues in order to find a priest for confession.)    The Germans will return to France, but they will be crushed.  We will be forced to say "God's finger is there".  Yes, yes, soon France will triumph, soon she will be the queen of kingdoms.  She did too much good in the missions for God to abandon her. "

(NOTE: it appears France will be finally raised up again after another GERMAN INVASION, WW3?)

Vision of July 1875:

"Comfort yourself, will come a time to come, it is far from here, where France will become queen.  But before, it must undergo many humiliations, even more than it has ever had.  After the Lord will triumph and be the head of the kingdom.  There will come a time, which seems far, very far in the eyes of man, but in the eyes of God it is not far, where France will be Queen too.  She will rule Syria ... "

On the 5th of July, full of joy St. Mariam said: "Oh, what makes my heart happy is that Syria will belong to France. This event must take place only when "France will be Queen."

Vision of August 31, 1876 - WARS, REVOLUTIONS; THREE DAYS OF DARKNESS, DEATH OF THE CLERGY

"I saw clouds, storms, rains of all things, falling on the earth, and nothing happened to this house. "  (i.e. her convent)   "All nations will be shaken by war and revolution.  In the darkness, for three days, the evil followers will be annihilated, so that only a quarter of humanity will survive.  At that time, the clergy will be well diminished, because most of the priests will be dead for the defence of the faith or for their homeland.  The cause of the terrible disasters that will melt on France, here it is: one will commit sins and outrages towards the Blessed Sacrament, and the Incarnation will be considered like a fable ".

"The power of the enemy will not last forever. The church will live again and blossom forever."

"Happy man who perseveres despite everything! And woe to him who weakens at the first obstacle!"

"Little flock, do not be afraid, be small. Do not fear thunder, nor rain, nor mountains, nothing will touch the elect of the Lord!  Walk underground. If you want to be great, be small.  Do not look for the greatness of the creature; whoever raises you today will lower you tomorrow. "

:::::::::::::::::::::::::

December 2, 1877: "The Lord showed me everything! I saw the Dove of fire! Address the Dove of fire, the Holy Spirit who inspires everything.  I was told, "Follow me." I saw all the trees and mountains leap. Peace is my share.  Peace and the cross are my share, but the cross and discouragement are the portion of the enemy and those who listen to the enemy."

(I.e. this seems to say no one escapes the cross, but those who follow the Holy Spirit will experience peace, those who are the enemies of God or who listen to the enemy will know only discouragement as well as bearing the cross.)

Importance on Devotion to the Holy Spirit:

St. Mariam Baouardy: "The world and religious communities are seeking novelties in devotions, and they are neglecting true devotion to the Paraclete. That is why there is error and disunion, and why there is no peace or light. They do not invoke light as it should be invoked, and it is this light that gives knowledge of truth. It is neglected even in seminaries. Every person in the world that will invoke the Holy Spirit and have devotion to Him will not die in error." (Source, St. Therese Church, Alhambra, CA Website.)
