St. Isidore of Seville (c. 560-636 AD)

ST. ISIDORE OF SEVILLE (c. 560- 636 AD), a scholar and Archbishop of Seville for over three decades, is widely regarded in the Catholic Church as the last of the Church Fathers and early Christian philosphers. At a time of disintegration of classical culture, and aristocratic violence and illiteracy, he was involved in the conversion of the Arian Visigothic kings to Catholicism, both assisting his brother Leander of Seville, and continuing after his brother's death. He was influential in the inner circle of Sisebut, Visigothic king of Hispania. Like Leander, he played a prominent role in the Councils of Toledo and Seville. The Visigothic legislation that resulted from these councils influenced the beginnings of representative government. His fame after his death was based on his 'Etymologiae', an etymological encyclopedia which assembled extracts of many books from classical antiquity that would have otherwise been lost. He was the first Christian writer to try to compile a summa of universal knowledge
.

He also made a prophecy concerning a great king to come that would one day rule Spain, however, this is also considereed a Great Monarch prophecy as this Great King of the Last Days will have an extensive reign outside of Spain and will include the 'House of Agar', i.e. Hagar's descendants from Abraham, the children of Ishmael, which means the Arab nations, and he will take 'possesion' of Jerusalem, which means he will take it by feats of war, an element which figures in other Great Monarch prophecies:

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

St. Isidore: “In the last days a very pious King shall reign over our Great Spain … He shall reign over the House of Agar, and shall possess Jerusalem …”

(Also, it is interesting there is a peearge the 'House of Agar' from Ireland / Britian according to heraldric records. This could indicate that the Great Monarch's influence will extend to England and Ireland.)
