This is a hot topic among
prophecies today – that a great worldwide 'Illumination of
Conscience' is going to happen to warn everyone throughout the world
before the major chastisements and the Three Days of Darkness strike, that God will let people sees their souls exactly as He sees them as a last chance to convert.
I know I'm going to take a
lot of heat for this, but of all the different chastisement and 'warning' prophecies, (which I do believe in), there is one I'm skeptical about - the worldwide 'Illumination of Conscience'.
I do have good cause to be skeptical - this could be the very prophecy Ven. Bernardo Maria Clausi (1787-1849) warned us NOT to pay attention to should any mystic attempt to give the details of a 'new momentary worldwide plague' never revealed before as GOD IS RESERVING THIS SECRET TO HIMSELF and is NOT going to give details.

Bernardo Maria Clausi (1787-1849) warned us NOT to pay attention to should any mystic attempt to give the details of a 'new momentary worldwide plague' never revealed before as GOD IS RESERVING THIS SECRET TO HIMSELF and is NOT going to give details.
Ven. Bernardo Maria Clausi:
“There will come a great plague; it will be terrible and directed
only against the ungodly. It will be a brand new scourge, and one
that has never been seen in the world.
Heaven and earth will be united and great sinners will be converted, because then they will know God. This plague will be felt all over the world and it will be so terrible that those who survive it will imagine that they are the only ones it has spared. All will be good and repentant. This plague will be instant, (and pass in a moment), but (will be) terrible. (...) “Take care not to believe those who will tell you what will be the plague, because it will be something completely new, and which has never been seen in the world, and God did not reveal it to anybody: He keeps the secret reserved for Himself. ” (See more about Ven. Bernard Maria Clausi, click here.)

So, Ven. Clausi has given
us an indication that we can spot a modern fake mystic if they try to
give extraordinary details about a never before revealed 'momentary' worldwide or universial 'plague' event that
would last an instant but could or would kill the ungodly.
This cannot be the Three
Days of Darkness he was referring to, three days is longer than a 'moment', and something similar has already
happened in the Bible, not to mention God has given us plenty of details about
it through authentic mystics, and, the Three Days itself is also alluded to in the Bible, so this has been revealed already. (For Scripture references referring to the Three Days of Darkness, and the credible mystics who give more details on that, click here.)
It cannot be the 'Burning
Plague' of 'Burning Face Plague' either as that too is mentioned in the Bible and by other
approved mystics, and, that plague will last more than a 'moment 'and take time
to spread, so this plague cannot happen universally at once, or disappear fast
like what Ven. Clausi is describing.
Also, it need not be a disease he is talking about. A "plague" can also be a torment sent as punishment as the Ten Plagues of Egypt show. Some of the bigger plagues were not diseases, such as the river of blood, the hail of fire, the plagues of flies and frogs, lice, the Three Days of Darkness and the death of the firstborn in Egypt casued by supernatural means. Locusts and the like are also described as 'plagues'.

Locusts and the like are also described as 'plagues'.
The event Ven. Clausi refered to can't be the sign
of the cross in the sky, as Christ already revealed that in the
Bible and again to other mystics.
We know from true mystics,
the time of the chastisements will be like a 'Little Judgement' or 'Minor Judgement'–
that description is not the problem either. We know there will be earthquakes, plagues, lots of chastisements, signs in the sky, even hints of resurrections of the dead, etc before the Three Days of Darkness. These have all been revealed before either in the Bible or by saints and true mystics.
The red flag we have to
watch for according to Ven. Clausi is when people will try to go into detail and describe what
God is going to do in the new MOMENTARY, UNIVERSAL plague' never before revealed.
The 'Illumination of
Conscience' has to be what he referred to – it is the only new, never-before revealed
'universal plague' prophecy that began to circulate in Ven. Clausi's time, and, attempts
to explain what this 'new momentary plague' could be, even in its
very description 'Illumination of Conscience'.
There is NO allusion, nor any prophecy in the Bible about a MOMENTARY, UNIVERSAL 'Illumination of Consciences' BEFORE the Last Day itself. Biblical prophecies refer to the Last Day, but not this event that is allegedly coming as part of the warnings before the chastisements,
which come before the renewal of the Church and the Age of Peace.
(Note, the Antichrist comes after this Age of Peace, so this ' universal
illumination' is not a prophecy about the Last Day.)
To repeat: a 'plague' is not just a disease as the Ten Plagues of Egypt show. Notice, the word plague can refer to a 'calamity', a 'scourge' or 'punishment'. According to the Etymology Dictionary, the word 'plague' comes from Latin plaga "stroke,
wound," probably from root of plangere "to strike, lament
(by beating the breast)," from or cognate with Greek (Doric)
plaga "blow," from PIE root plak "to strike."
For the ungodly and wicked in the state of mortal sin, to see their souls exactly as God sees them is indeed a spiritual 'plague' as they will be struck with an inner torment and the sight of their souls worthy of damnation if they were to die at that point.
Therefore, the
'Illumination of Conscience' event would actually be a 'plague' that
would only 'strike' the ungodly according to Ven. Clausi's warnings.
It would only 'strike' the die-hard mortal sinners as they would be
the ones so terrified of the actual state of their own souls they
would be 'struck' and possibly die from the terror, while it would
not be so terrifying for those in a state of grace, and not terrify
them to the point of death despite the shock.
To repeat: it is the only never before revealed 'momentary' universal “plague” prophecy that first appeared in his own lifetime, and he warned be careful of something never before revealed.
To repeat: it is the only never before revealed 'momentary' universal “plague” prophecy that first appeared in his own lifetime, and he warned be careful of something never before revealed.

Debunking the 'Illumination of Conscience' prophecy:
Contrary to what several books and websites say, i.e. St. Edmund Campion in the 1500s was the first to mention a such a prophecy, and then Bl. Anna Maria Tiagi in the 1800s, this is NOT TRUE. (I shall explain why /how in a moment).
The first time we actually hear of an 'Illumination of Conscience' prophecy using this exact term is from a prophecy by a mystic named Madeleine Porsat
(1843-1870s) – who
declared that it will be Our Lady will illumine the consciences of everyone –
but the only original text about Porsat is very suspect and not
credible. Her main prophecy failed, the text itself shows signs of
the message having been manipulated, and, there is no evidence the woman even
existed. So, she was either a fake mystic, or the prophecy was made up by another author, or she did not even exist at all. (Click here for more info about Porsat.)
It had never circulated before, and first appeared in his lifetime, therefore this must be it.
The man who recorded this prophecy claimed he heard about in the late
1840s from her lips, which means this first ever mention of the 'illumination of consciences' before the renewal of the Church was circulating in the very
last years of Ven. Bernardo Clausi's life - evidence that this
could indeed be the exact 'new' 'universal' prophecy Ven. Bernardo Maria Clausi warned about -
that any attempt to describe in detail a 'momentary universal plague'
like an 'illumination of conscience' event is what we have to be on
the watch for.
It had never circulated before, and first appeared in his lifetime, therefore this must be it.

It is said that St. Edmund
Campion (1540-1581) is the first to have referred to this so-called
'Illumination of Conscience' but this is FALSE.
It is obvious his quotation regarding the LAST DAY has been taken out of context to cobble together a weak support for the 'Illumination' prophecy.
It is obvious his quotation regarding the LAST DAY has been taken out of context to cobble together a weak support for the 'Illumination' prophecy.
During his trial, St.
Edmund was accused of preaching about an imminent invasion of England
by armies mustered by the Pope, the King of Spain and the Duke of
Florence when he spoke of a 'great day' that was 'coming soon'. This would have been considered an act of treason against Protestant England and that he was supporting their enemies with political preaching. (In fact, many countries for years had laws against making prophecies that declared their kings or leaders were in danger, because it could literally incite people to make such prophecies come to pass with assassination attempts made against the king or queen, etc, or, incite war or riots in the country, etc.)
St. Edmund refuted this accusation defended himself by saying he was teaching doctrine, that he was preaching the very same thing that
even Protestants were preaching in their own pulpits at that time: he preached
the 'great day of the Lord', the time when the Lord would come to judge
men of all faiths and religions, and reveal all men's consciences,
the 'day of change', aka the Day of the Resurrection when “all
shall be changed” as St. Paul preached (1 Cor. 15: 52).
St. Edmund: “Whereupon
as in every pulpit every Protestant doth, I pronounced a great
day, not wherein any temporal potentate should minister, but wherein
the terrible Judge should reveal all men's consciences and try every
man of each kind of religion. This is the day of change, this is the
great day which I threatened.” (Source for quote: “Edmund
Champion: Jesuit and Martyr”, by Evelyn Waugh, Penguin, UK, 2012)
"The day of change" is a reference to the LAST DAY - St. Paul called the resurrection of the dead as the day when 'all are changed' in the 'twinkling of an eye'.
It is obvious St Edmund
was talking about the Second Coming and the Last Day when all is revealed, no sin will be hidden and all 'consciences' are revealed to all men before either being consigned to Heaven or Hell forever, this doctrine the Protestants also believe and would also preach about, but certainly not an
'illumination of conscience' chastisement before the Three Days of
Darkness and the restoration of the CATHOLIC CHURCH - the Protestants certainly would not preach such a
thing, especially at the dawn of their heretical religion in the 1500s.
Quite a number of authors who have written in favour of the 'Illumination of Conscience' have conveniently clipped out the very first sentence said by St. Edmund underlined above regarding the Protestants, which changes the context to suit the 'Illumination of Conscience' narrative.
So, St. Edmund has been
misquoted to fit the idea of the universal 'illumination of
conscience'. He also never used the term. Completely manipulated.
:::::::::::::::
Bl. Anna Maria Taigi
(1769-1837) – she is the next source usually cited as having
made an 'Illumination of Conscience' prophecy in 1836 a year before her death, a 'miracle of
self illumination'. This is the quotation given:
"A great purification will come upon the world preceded by an “Illumination of Conscience” in which everyone will see themselves as God sees them."
"A great purification will come upon the world preceded by an “Illumination of Conscience” in which everyone will see themselves as God sees them."
This quote is 'The Miracle of Illumination of All Consciences' by Thomas W. Petrisko, and it was published in the year 2000.
(UPDATE detail here added October 2, 2024 -) I have finally found his source for this quote, and, it appears to be from a book by a Fr. Philip Bebie first published in 1986. According to a book called the 'Remnant' Fr. Bebie's claims it is Bl. Anna who first called it 'the Warning'. So, Fr. Bebie's claim is the EARLIEST known date of this quote or attribution appearing, and, this is still suspect.

Bl. Anna died in 1837, and I cannot find one
early printed source or prophecy books from the mid 1800s or even early 1900s that has credited her with this prophecy of 'the warning', in
Italian, French, Spanish or English. They mention her Days of
Darkness prophecies, which was revealed by her spiritual director and who was called in to give his testimony of her during her canonization process, but I have not found any early source that
mentions an 'illumination of conscience' event called 'the warning', even from him, which is strange as it is considered a major chastisement that comes before the Three Days of Darkness, and, she is the first to literally mention, or be accredited with by her spiritual director, the first ever Three Days of Darkness prophecy. So, something is seriously off when something as serious a UNIVERSAL 'illumination prophecy that is connected to the Three Days is not mentioned at all! As stated, the first mention of her making the so called 'illumination of conscience' prophecy came out c. the year 1986 nearly 200 years later!
Academics know that if an early text source is lacking certain details, but these details are found a long time afterwards in later publications, it is a sign those latter details may have been added embellishments.
Academics know that if an early text source is lacking certain details, but these details are found a long time afterwards in later publications, it is a sign those latter details may have been added embellishments.
In fact, I have not even
found the prophecy at all in later relatively credible books, such as
Fr. Culleton's 'The Prophets and Our Times', not even Yves Dupont's
book 'Catholic Prophecy'. Like Fr. Culleton, he too doesn't even
mention it at all, let alone attribute it to Bl Anna. The fact Fr.
Culleton and Yves Dupont didn't mention it in their books means the
prophecy is suspect in itself.
And, those who claim Bl
Taigi made this prophecy do not cite any early sources either. Many
do not cite a source at all, but apparently have accepted it and
quoted it as fact.
So, until someone cites an
early source that said Bl Anna made this prophecy, all I can conclude
is that it is very likely she never made the prophecy at all and it
has been attributed to her in these modern times to make it sound
credible, as with many fake chastisement prophecies that have been tacked onto to
St. Padre Pio's good name to make them sound real. And, the first time we see such a prophecy attributed to Bl Anna came out in a book to support Garabandal, which is not approved. So, we may have an indication of misattribution to make this prophecy and / or this set of visions seem credible.
If anyone actually has an
early text that says Bl Anna Maria Taigi predicted this, i.e. texts
from the 1800s or early 1900s, please let me know.
::::::::::::::::::::::::
St. Catherine Labouré (1806-1876) - there are also claims in books and on websites that St. Catherine who received the visions of the Miraculous Medal also was told about an 'Illumination of Conscience' event, and, they say it happened in 1830 (the year the Miraculous Medal Apparitions occurred), but similar to Bl. Anna Maria Taigi, I have not found any early record that states this.
Yes, St. Catherine received visions of the future revolutions in France, that the whole world would "grow sad", and mentions a time of great peace would happen after this, but I have not found any early textual evidence she received a vision or revelation in 1830 about a worldwide 'illumination of conscience' that will strike the earth before these events happen.
In fact, it appears a vision to MARIE-JULIE JAHENNY was taken out of context!
Unless an early text is provided with the actual words of the vision or St. Catherine it appears revelations about the revolutions to come were twisted out of context like the paragraph above was with St. Edmund, and therefore this claim of having made an 'Illumination of Conscience prophecy' is not genuine.
Please, if anyone has an early source text dating from the 1800s or early 1900s that actually has her making such a prophecy, let me know.

In fact, it appears a vision to MARIE-JULIE JAHENNY was taken out of context!
Apparently,
one source claiming St. Catherine made an 'illumination of
conscience' prophecy in that the date of it was revealed to her is not true - this is actually a prophecy given to Marie-Julie Jahenny about St. Catherine, and, what was revealed to her, but Marie-Julie did NOT mention any
'illumination of conscience' was given to St. Catherine. Marie-Julie was told St. Catherine was given a prophecy regarding when a warning about the genocidal civil
war to break out in France and that a day of darkness and lightning that
would come before to announce it. Marie-Julie also stated the same prophecy regarding the visible warnings and wars was revealed to Sr Marie Peter of Tours, and that the prophecies given to Sr. Marie would be discovered later as another prophetic warning just before the wars break out and the great chastisements hit:
Our
Lady to Marie-Julie Jahenny June 15, 1882 “This particular day
was revealed to My servant Catherine in the apparitions of My Holy
Mother, under the name Mary conceived without sin. (St.
Catherine Labouré of Rue du Bac)
This day is noted in five rolls tightly closed (of or by) the sister
of Saint Pierre Tours. This roll remains (hidden) in secret, until
the day when a person of God brings her predestined hand on what the
world has ignored, to the inhabitants of that monastery …"
(The writings of Sr. St. Peter were put in a secret place in Tours by
order of Bishop Morlot in August, 1950 )
(Click
here to see the FULL TEXT of the prophecy given to Marie-Julie and how this is NOT a prophecy referring to
an 'Illumination of Conscience'.)
So, this is from an ecstasy from Marie-Julie Jahenny, not from St.
Catherine herself, and, the prophecy that was given here is about a day of ferocious darkness and
a lightning storm that would announce the civil wars are coming.
So it is a text about a VISIBLE WARNING, that's about it. No 'universal illumination of consciences' is mentioned.
This would be in keeping with the other prophecies about the future French revolution St. Catherine received, but it is obvious this is not about an 'illumination of conscience' event.

*) Also, there have been claims Marie-Julie herself made an 'illumination of conscience' prophecy, but according to all the texts I have read / translated by Marie-Julie Jahenny, (just see my site on her texts to read them, click here -) I have NOT FOUND ONE SINGLE PUBLICLY RELEASED TEXT that says this. The ONLY reference I have seen regarding some 'interior warning' is in fact a very simple text- all she was told was that people would feel in their hearts that the time of the chastisements would not be that far away. That's all.
**** I can only conclude by this that people seem to be mixing up what the 'Warning' is, (we're actually going to have many visible warnings), and automatically assuming if a saint or mystic mentions a 'warning' sign, this is also going to be or include an 'Illumination of Conscience' event, or, conveniently mixing them up to support the worldwide 'Illumination of Conscience' idea when the texts themselves do not say this at all. ******
A lot of approved saints and mystics do mention 'warning' signs, but usually there is NO MENTION of an 'Illumination of Conscience' event.

What about the approved
apparitions to Maria Esperanza of Betania, Venezuela? Do they
mention an 'Illumination of Conscience'?
Not from what I can see
judging from the quotes people say or use to refer to the 'illumination of
conscience'.
Betania foretells of a
“day of light”, but this could simple mean a day of grace, a day
of miracles. Also, the prophecies of Betania say that consciences
need to be 'shaken' but there is no mention of HOW. There is a
big difference between 'shaking a conscience', and 'illuminating' it.
Quotes from Betania: “The great moment of a great day of light is
coming. The consciences of this beloved people must be violently
shaken so that they can "put their houses in order" and
offer Jesus the right reparation for the daily infidelities that are
continuously committed by sinners”.
“A great moment is
approaching, a great day of light .... It is time to decide for
humanity.”
In fact, any number of the
chastisements may 'shake' a conscience – i.e. how many have heard
of a tragedy where many people die, and it makes them want to shape
up their own lives after reflecting how fleeting life is? That event
'shook' their consciences. The huge chastisements are going to be
sent to do that – and so, they can and will 'shake consciences'.
However, these quotes from
the visions of Betania never say how consciences will be
shaken, and, these quotes don't actually say God is going to
literally illuminate consciences. Also, whatever is going to be
sent to 'shake consciences' – these messages make it clear is to
get the good people to wake up and make reparation for the daily
neglects of sinners.
This doesn't sound like
the “momentary plague” Ven. Clausi talked about that will
particularly strike the ungodly, but like something that will be sent
for the faithful to make then do better and make sacrifices for
sinners. So Betania is describing something completely different,
and, it appears in another apparition that it was a 'movement of
consciences' that these apparitions were meant to start:
Our Lady at Betania (Nov
8, 1989) “Children, I am offering you the great opportunity to
unite, fulfilling a structural movement of consciences, with
the burning flame of My Jesus... for this is the only way to go
on... embellishing yourselves with spirituality..! Behold,
reaffirm your steps... to meet with the pure source of a model life
which is My Divine Son... which you have to live and feel inside..! I
keep you here in My Heart..!”
In fact, Maria
Esperanza herself said this 'light' began in 2004, and, thought this
'light' and 'shaking of consciences' was simply the beginning of a
new spiritual state according to Spirit Daily,
(click here.) Spirit Daily also notes the prophecies don't
actually refer to an 'illumination of mankind' event.
Again, like St. Edmund
Campion's quote, it appears these quotes by Maria Esperanza are taken
out of context to support the 'illumination of consciences'
prophecies spread by unreliable sources.

What about St. Faustina?
No. St. Faustina
Kowalska DID NOT predict the 'Illumination of Consciences' in Her
Dairy – she never used the term in her Dairy, and in fact, the
event that people claim is the 'Warning / Illumination of
Consciences' may be an event closer to the literal Day of Judgment
she was talking about, and not one of the chastisement events before the
Age of Peace which is what the supposed 'illumination of consciences' event is supposed to be..
Our Lord told St.
Faustina that before He comes as just judge, (i.e. since we
know Christ is coming as the Judge at the End of Time, not before,
this is obviously a reference to the Last Day), a time of darkness
would happen and the cross would appear in the sky and light would
stream from the places where He was nailed to it. This is an obvious miraculous VISIBLE SIGN, but she did NOT
describe it as an 'Illumination of Conscience' event as some sites
claim. (Diary #83).
It is a sign in the sky
St. Faustina revealed, Christ appearing on the cross, and Christ had already foretold in the Bible
that the cross would be seen in the sky when the end times were
approaching, the 'sign of the Son of Man', so this is not a new
revelation.
(And, since it is not a new revelation, it is not the false 'universal plague' prophecy we have to be on our guard against as mentioned by Ven. Clausi.)

A BIG RED FLAG
Another sign the
'Illumination of Conscience' prophecy must not be right – it is
spread by a considerable number of mystics who are not approved by
the Church, or have even been condemned by the Church. Another big red flag is fake mystics tend to all 'pal
around' together and spread the same things, typically 'popular visions' that are not
approved by the Church. (Gisella Cardia is an example of this, using a spin-off connection with Medjugorje to get a following-she has just been officially condemned by the Vatican, 2024).
+ Garabandal is a big one
regarding the 'Illumination of Conscience' prophecy and apparently
is the first major apparition to literally spread this idea since the time Porsat first mentioned the concept (if Porsat even existed at all!) –
Garabandal is STILL NOT APPROVED BY THE CHURCH, and is still declared
'not supernatural'. Conchita actually tries to describe the event
with details, so we have a hint we should ignore this particular
prophecy from Conchita according to Ven. Bernardo Clausi.
+ Mama Quattrini of San Damiano is quoted has having given an 'illumination of conscience' event, but she has been condemned twice by the Church, click here.
+ Christina Gallagher from Achill island Ireland, promotes it, and she has been condemned by her local bishop, click here.
+ John Leary has many detailed messages on it, which again is proof Ven. Bernardo Clausi was right not to pay attention to such mystics as Leary has been officially condemned by the Church as 'Not Supernatural', his locutions are of human origin, and he promotes the Chiliast heresy condemned centuries ago by the Church, click here.
+ The heretical, gnostic
fake seer 'Maria-Divine-Mercy' condemned by her local archbishop is another one promoting it through
her 'Book of Truth' which is a nothing but a book of errors promoting failed prophecies and the Chiliast heresy, and, fake sacramentals attempting to outdo the sacrament of Confirmation, click here.
+ The fake heretical seer officially condemned by her local bishop Maureen Sweeny Kyle of 'Holy Love' of Ohio also promotes it, more on her, click here.

+ The fake mystic 'Luz de
Maria' de Bonilla of Argentina also promotes it, click here.
+ The fake seer 'Jennifer'
of the USA is another, click here. Her messages have doctrinal / Catholic teaching errors.
+ Francine Bériault of France who claims to have locutions from Heaven also mentions the 'Illumination', but her visions contain heretical contradictions of Scripture, and, strange illogical statements that contradict reason. Sign of a fake, and therefore more proof anyone mentioning the 'Illumination of Conscience' event must not be true: click here.
+ Gisella Cardia - (mentioned earlier), also gives details of the 'Illumination of Consciences', and her messages have several major doctrinal errors and contradicts the Gospels. Officially declared 'Not Supernatural' by the Church in July 2024, so she is officially declared a false mystic: click here.
+ The obvious fake seers Joseph DellaPuca and Denise Curtain also foretell it in the 'Two Heart are One' message, but Ron Conte on 'Catholic Planet' shows they are obvious fakes, click here for his evaluation.

+ Fr. Michel Rodrigue is
another spreading errors regarding end time events, and he goes into
incredible depth trying to explain the 'Warning' and 'Illumination of
Conscience' event. In fact, his local bishop has just written a second official letter Sept. 3, 2020 declaring he does not support his end times messages or version of end
times events, and has completely disavowed them. The bishop has also revealed Fr. Michel was never appointed an official diocesan exorcist as claimed, and has now withdrawn his official support for his St. Joseph Labre project. This is a major red flag, click here for the official statements of the Bishop of Amos, Canada and also more info. Fr. Michel has also given a doozy of a failed prophecy, so he is obvious fake mystic as even the Bible says if a prophecy fails, then the prophet is a fake not sent by God.
If anything, this list of fake, not approved and outright condemned mystics that all tend to share the same concept of the 'Illumination of Conscience' event only shows that Ven. Benardo Maria Clausi was right - beware of anyone going into prophetic details about an 'Illumination of Conscience' event - pay no attention to them. It is a red flag.
:::::::::::::
To recap: Ven.
Bernardo Maria Clausi warned to ignore anyone trying to gives
details of a 'universal, momentary plague', i.e. a universal event that would torment the ungodly, that would come and
quickly go, an event that has NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE OR NEVER REVEALED
BEFORE. He said GOD IS KEEPING THIS
SECRET TO HIMSELF and is NOT GOING TO REVEAL IT TO ANYBODY.
The 'Illumination of
Conscience' event is the only NEW 'revelation' never before revealed that appeared in his time
in a questionable text with a failed prophecy in it by an unapproved mystic who we can't even prove existed, and, which has suddenly been taken up by a
lot of modern mystics, particularly by those not approved by the
Church, or, are fake / heretical.
In order to prove these 'beloved mystics' non-approved visionaries are genuine, those who believe in the 'Illumination of Conscience' event are obviously taking texts from authentic visions from saints and mystics and have manipulated them or quoted them out of context to generate a false sense of authenticity.

In fact, this attempt to
describe the coming momentary plague or warning as the 'Illumination
of Conscience' is VERY DANGEROUS – if we think we don't have to
really prepare 'right now' as God is 'going to show our souls to us
beforehand' – Satan has tricked us into being complacent and not
keeping watch with our lamps burning if we think we have 'plenty of
time to repent'.
Satan wants us to forget
the current moment and look to a future event that may not ever
happen when death could strike us any time. We must always
have our souls prepared, even before we even consider the
chastisements, and not just wait around until an 'illumination of
conscience' happens.
In fact, I've already seen
people say they don't have to 'really' prepare for the chastisements
until the 'warning' and the 'illumination of conscience' occurs!
That is really dangerous. Our Lord gave real warnings to mystics
like Marie-Julie Jahenny quite a long time ago so we would be warned
in plenty of time – He said so to her Himself.
And, it is interesting that Marie-Julie Jahenny, the mystic that arguably has been given the most warnings to date about the chastisements, never mentioned an 'illumination of conscience'. The closest thing Marie-Julie came to it was to say that people would feel an interior warning that the times of the chastisements would not be far away, but that's all she said according to the published texts. She gave may warnings and signs the earth would see, but never mentioned an 'Illumination of Conscience' event.

So, we are not to 'sit
around' and wait for any 'illumination of conscience' event.
Also, if God actually
illumined every conscience at the same time – HOW COULD PEOPLE NOT
CONVERT? How could people actually choose to keep living in evil if
they saw it on their souls and had a chance to do better?
We would have conversions en mass to the Church and have no need for the other warning signs and certainly not for the Three Days of Darkness to wipe out two thirds to three quarters of humanity, which we know are coming. It's been foretold several times by authentic mystics. But this 'Illumination of Conscience' is a new element that has not been revealed before, often supported and spread by non-approved seers, and, several of them are in serious error.
Again - please note- simply because an approved saint or mystic mentions a visible warning will be seen, this is often NOT automatic proof of an 'Illumination of Conscience' event.
I repeat: people seem to be mixing up visible 'Warnings' and automatically assuming if a saint or mystic mentions a warning sign, this is also going to be an 'Illumination of Conscience' event when it doesn't, not if the saint or mystic never metioned such a thing.
Also, people are conveniently taking saints' and mystics' prophecies out of context with regards to warnings, also texts or prophecies about the Day of Judgment, aka the Last Day, and mixing them up or skewing them to support the idea of a worldwide 'Illumination of Conscience' idea when the texts themselves do not say this at all.
A lot of approved saints and mystics do mention 'warning' signs, but usually there is NO LITERAL MENTION of an 'Illumination of Conscience' event in their texts.

As Ven. Bernardo Clausi
warned – ignore anyone attempting to explain in detail a
new 'momentary universal plague' never revealed before , (which means we would have fake
mystics attempting to do so or he would not have warned about it.)
Ven. Clausi says to ignore them. God is reserving the Secret for
Himself and will not reveal what is going to happen with this
particular event.
